An EPC QR code carries payment details for a SEPA credit transfer. A supporting banking app reads the code and fills the transfer fields. The payer checks and confirms the transfer. The European Payments Council publishes the format guidelines.
What Pepper puts on the invoice
An eligible issued EUR invoice includes a code with the beneficiary, IBAN, amount and invoice number. Select a bank account with an IBAN on the invoice. The PDF also prints payment details for customers whose banking app cannot scan the code.
- The issued original uses the invoice total.
- A current copy uses the remaining balance.
- Recording a payment never changes the issued original.
- Drafts, quotes, proformas and credit notes have no code.
- A current copy of a cancelled or fully paid invoice has no code. Its issued original keeps the code saved at issue.
What the scan does not prove
Scanning does not mean the customer paid. It does not send payment confirmation back to Pepper. Check your bank and record the received payment in the application.
The code uses a bank transfer, not a card gateway. Your bank’s charges and the payer’s banking-app support still apply.
