Pulse Studio agrees to design a programme cover for Portside Press at EUR 95.00 per hour. Its project uses a 15-minute billing increment. The team wants to bill the time it records without typing those hours into an invoice again.
Use a separate test installation for this example. You need project and invoice management permissions, an active customer and company settings ready for invoicing.
Plan the task
Create an Hourly project for Portside in EUR. In Project settings, set the rate to EUR 95.00 and the increment to 15 minutes. Add a task called Programme cover, assign it to yourself and set its dates and estimate.
If you begin from a won deal, open its project and choose Import quote lines to make tasks or milestones from the quote. Review those lines before confirming the import. A quote remains a record of the agreement; it is not an invoice.
Record the work
Start the timer on Programme cover and stop it when you finish. Or use Log time to enter the work you already did.
For this example, record 70 minutes and 97 minutes on two days. Keep both entries billable. Check the week's 167-minute total in Time. The app keeps those exact minutes even when the invoice uses a billing increment.
Review the invoice
Open Unbilled work, include billable time and select the two dates. Choose By task and review the draft.
The group has 167 minutes. A 15-minute increment makes 180 billed minutes, or 3 hours. At EUR 95.00 per hour, that line is EUR 285.00 before tax. The description names the task and its key, hours and rate. The preview states the increment.
For a mixed project, select an approved fixed-price milestone in the same preview. For example, a EUR 450.00 print hand-off and EUR 285.00 of time make EUR 735.00 before tax. Review the applicable tax and final total before continuing.
Prepare, issue and collect
Choose Prepare invoice draft. The saved draft reserves the entries, so another preparation cannot bill them again. Review it and issue it through the invoice screen. Send it as a separate action, then record payment after the customer pays.
The project's collection section follows the linked invoice. Its margin uses issued net revenue, credits, linked purchase net amounts and recorded time costs. A draft contributes no issued revenue, and a missing cost rate remains visible as missing.
Correct the selection
Before issue, delete the draft to release the entries. Correct the time or choose another grouping, preview again and prepare a new draft. After issue, use the existing invoice's credit or cancellation actions. Those actions do not release its hours for another invoice.
Read Track time for the timer and timesheet, Bill tracked time for billing rules, and Project and time tools to follow the same steps through a connected client. Invoice issuance still requires your confirmation.
