Decide where invoicing ends and bookkeeping starts

Map the records Pepper supplies to your accountant's process, and identify the accounting work that stays elsewhere.

Created Updated

Pepper can hold the invoice you issued, the money you recorded against it and the supplier receipt you entered. Your bookkeeping process still needs to account for the bank transaction, fees, tax treatment and any entries outside those records.

Choose the hand-off with the person who will use it. A ZIP of documents can work well for one practice while another needs a direct connection to its accounting system.

Map a small month of work

Imagine a month with two issued invoices, one part payment and three supplier receipts. Pepper gives each invoice its own document history. You record the received payment and enter the purchases with their amounts and attached evidence.

At month end, Tax periods groups the source figures by currency and tax rate. The accountant download includes CSV data, a PDF summary and available source files. An accountant can trace a figure to the records behind it.

That month can also contain a loan payment, an owner contribution or a bank fee. The Pepper invoice and purchase records do not establish a complete set of books for those events. Agree where the accounting entries belong.

Check the hand-off against the actual job

Need Pepper's released scope
Sales documents Issued invoices and credit notes with stored original PDFs
Money received Full or partial payments entered by staff
Purchase evidence Manual supplier amounts, categories and attached files
Period summary Calendar month, quarter or year, with currencies kept separate
Bank reconciliation Use a separate process; no bank import, matching or feed
Books and filing Use accounting software or your accountant; no general ledger or tax return

The tax-period “difference” subtracts recorded purchase tax from recorded sales tax. It is not a statement of what you owe a tax authority. Pepper applies no country-specific rules to decide that amount.

Run one sample before moving work

Give your accountant an export from a representative test period. Include a credit note, a receipt and more than one currency if those occur in your business. Ask them to check the fields and source files they need, and agree how to handle later corrections.

The package's manifest can contain warnings for missing or changed evidence. Review those warnings before handing it over. If you add a late purchase or correct a record after export, download a fresh package and identify the revision to the accountant.

Pepper has no native synchronization or dedicated migration for the accounting products in our comparisons. Preserve existing records and agree a cutover process before changing systems.

Read the purchase-to-accountant workflow, period manual and currency workflow.
