Pepper or QuickBooks Online?

Check accounting, payment and regional requirements before choosing an invoice system.

Updated

Compare the complete job your business needs, including what happens after payment reaches the bank. Make the required country, edition and integrations part of your checklist.

Questions for your shortlist

  • Must invoices and the bookkeeping ledger share one system?
  • Do you need bank connections, payroll or payment processing?
  • How will your accountant receive original invoices and purchase receipts?
  • Who is responsible for backups and restoring the business records?

What Pepper covers

Pepper runs on your hosting and includes the source for the licensed installation. Quotes, invoices, credits and recorded payments retain their history. Manual purchases and tax-period exports support the hand-off to your accountant.

Pepper has no card checkout, bank feed, bookkeeping ledger, payroll or QuickBooks synchronization. It records payments received elsewhere. It does not import a QuickBooks company.

Before changing systems, test the required export and preserve the old records. A separate invoicing installation makes sense only if the rest of your accounting process still works.
