Use this comparison when you follow enquiries to an agreed quote and want to decide whether a dedicated sales CRM or the pipeline inside Pepper fits the job.
Where does the deal live?
Pepper keeps leads, deals, quotes, invoices, projects and payments in one installation under your control. A lead becomes a customer and a deal in one step. A linked quote is the deal's value, and accepting the quote marks the deal won. The won deal can open a project with the quote as its agreed scope. Every figure follows the same permissions as the rest of your records.
Pipedrive is a sales CRM. Its features page describes processes, pipelines and activities, lead management, automation with webhooks and an open API, email and communications, insights and reports, more than 500 marketplace integrations, AI features and mobile apps. Pipedrive's features page was checked on 14 October 2026. Plans and add-ons change; check the offer that applies to you.
| Your question | Pepper | What to check in Pipedrive |
|---|---|---|
| Can the quote be the deal's value? | Yes. The latest quote that is not declined counts, before tax, in its currency. The estimate shows until then | How quotes or proposals connect to the deal value in your plan or integration |
| Does a won deal start the work and the invoice? | A won deal offers to open a project with the quote as its agreed scope. Invoices follow from the project or the quote | The integration with your invoicing product and its access rules |
| Can we run several pipelines? | No. One pipeline with the stages, probabilities and idle limits you set | The number of pipelines in your plan |
| Can it send email sequences or track opens? | No. Pepper sends documents by email and tracks nothing | Email features and their plan requirements |
| Does it score leads or use AI? | No. Qualification is a human step with a duplicate check by email and name | AI features and the LeadBooster, Web Visitors and Campaigns add-ons |
| Who runs it? | Your operator maintains the installation, updates and backups | The responsibilities in your subscription |
Pepper includes a leads inbox with quick-add and CSV import, a lead target for forms and website widgets, a qualify sheet, a pipeline board with Won and Lost as outcomes, lost reasons, one next step per record with follow-ups on Home, a weighted pipeline per currency, an overview with the win rate and days to Won, and agent tools for the same actions. Read Leads and Deals and the pipeline for the implemented controls and limits.
Bring your leads
Pepper imports leads from a CSV file with a name column and optional email, contact, phone, website, message, source, tags and next step columns. A file holds at most 5,000 rows. Rows whose email already belongs to a lead or a customer are skipped and counted. Deals, activities, email history and files do not transfer. Check whether Pipedrive's export covers the fields you need before moving.
Try the work that matters to you
In an installed test copy of Pepper, add three leads, qualify one into a customer and a deal, prepare its quote and record the acceptance. Check that the deal shows the quote as its value and that Home lists the deals without a next step.
Keep Pipedrive if email sequences, several pipelines, lead scoring or its integrations carry your sales work today. Consider Pepper when the pipeline should sit beside your quotes, invoices and projects in your own installation. The public demo is read-only; it shows the sample pipeline but saves no change.
